FE-13™ is the preferred Halon replacement (Halon 1301) in total flooding and inerting applications where its low toxicity provides for improved safety margins, the protected spaces are large, the cylinder storage area is remote from the protected space, or where the temperatures are likely to go below 0°C (32°F). Of the clean agents available, FE-13™ has the lowest toxicity and is the safest for protecting areas where people are present. FE-13™ provides the ultimate in human safety while protecting high-value assets and business continuity with a clean agent.

Due to its low toxicity, FE-13™ can be used in applications where the occupancy of the protected space is of critical concern at the time the space is being protected. This makes FE-13™ useful in total flood applications such as a control room where people occupy the protected space during discharge of the system.

FE-13™ can be used in applications with difficult Class-B fire hazards, such as hard-to-extinguish fuels like methanol, as well as spaces where the volume will vary with contents, like cargo holds. The physical properties of FE-13™ allow for its use in applications where large differences between the low and high hazard temperatures are expected. The low boiling point of FE-13™ allows for the storage of the containers to be located in remote areas, far from the protected space, as well as in environments other than room temperature.

Oil Tank Water Spary Design

Standard for Water Spray Oil Fixed Systems for Fire Protection

Appilcation Download : Oil Tank Spary Design

Fixed Oil Tank water spray systems as defined in NFPA 15 use water in a form having a predetermined pattern, particle size, velocity and density discharged from specially designed nozzles. Deluge sprinkler systems as defined by NFPA 13 are sprinkler systems using open sprinkler heads. Water spray and deluge systems discharge water through all open nozzles or open sprinkler heads onto the equipment or area to be protected. The deluge or water spray valves are actuated by detection systems. Foam concentrate can be added to a water spray or deluge system to increase its effectiveness on pool fires. Refer to NFPA 16 for additional information. For limited exposures, adequate protection can be provided by closed head sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA 13. Foam concentrate can be added to such a system in accordance with NFPA 16 to increase its effectiveness.
NFPA 15 Tank Protection

Fixed Oil Tank Water Spray Design
Design of fixed water spray protection will depend upon the type of equipment being protected and types of nozzles being used. The recommended water spray densities should be applied uniformly and not depend upon the rundown of water from upper surfaces
1. This standard provides the minimum requirements for the design, installation, and system acceptance testing of water spray fixed systems for fire protection service and the minimum requirements for the periodic testing and maintenance of ultra-high-speed water spray fixed systems.

Deluge Valve Insttallation

2. Water spray fixed systems shall be specifically designed to provide for effective fire control, extinguishment, prevention, or exposure protection
3.This standard shall not apply to water spray protection from portable nozzles, sprinkler systems, monitor nozzles, water mist suppression systems, explosion suppression, or other means of application covered by other standards of NFPA.
